SPOTIFY KIDS - NAVIGATE MUSIC WITH EMOTION

Music genres mean nothing to kids, particularly 90’s prog metal. What matters is how music makes you feel, so we decided to reinvent the way kids interact with music in a way they can understand. Through the use of feelings and emojis we let kids discover music in a way they never had before, intuitive and exploratory it broke the monotony of complicated language, lazy familiarity and franchise recognition, opening young minds and ears to spotify’s entire child friendly universe.

The Content Explorer presents a wheel of emojis to choose from, and picking them will then take you on a stream of content based on the mood or moment that emoji represents. For example, there is a bath emoji for a soundtrack to get in the tub to and there’s a crying emoji for when you want something that helps you cope with overwhelming sad emotions.

For example: Hitting the bath emoji might throw up ‘Wash Your Hands with Baby Shark’ by Pinkfong. Choosing the dinner plate emoji might play ‘Panini’ by Lil Nas X. And so on.

For curious parents, you don’t even need to download the Spotify Kids app. You can access the Content Explorer on the web and preview the content they’ve arranged for the kids before getting the app.
